A whitelist is a list of people who cannot be blocked from access to a service. In the context of Office 365, whitelists prevent important clients and partners from getting caught in your email spam filters.
For example, lets say my best client has employees who’s emails are getting blocked by my email spam filter: Clearly that is not a good thing, you want to receive those important emails. Through Forefront Online, you are able to go in and whitelist the client’s domain (@somebody.com), all emails with that domain extension will be allowed through.
Often it is the case that your previous mail service already has some of these lists in motion. As you move to Office 365, be sure to check if you need to migrate any of these lists.
